Horse-back Riding

At the beginning, I never showed talent for riding horses. But through a lot of perseverance and a very patient trainer I was able to understand an essential part of the sport: communication. With horses you communicate through the tactile feeling of your hands on the reins, your legs on their belly, the sound of your voice. You even need to be able to understand their emotional state. You have to be a great listener as they themselves are. A horse can feel if the rider fears it and it will act accordingly stubborn, so the rider must be smarter and have the capability to communicate clearly what she wants. My teacher always remarked: “They are 500kg, they are stronger than you. If you want to ride a horse you cannot let them also be smarter” – Ruben Becerril
